Last updated: 26 October 2026
CrewJournal is a personal flight logbook for airline crews. This policy explains which data the CrewJournal app and this website process, why, and what your rights are. In short: your logbook is visible only to you, nothing is sold or shared for advertising, and you can delete everything at any time.

What the app stores
| Data | Why |
| Sign in with Apple | You sign in with your Apple ID; there is no password. Apple gives us a user ID that is the same on all your devices, so your logbook is synced, and an e-mail address, which you can hide with Apple’s “Hide My Email”. Apple may also pass on your name once, which the app only uses to prefill your profile. |
| Profile: name, crew code, staff number, airline, home base | To recognise you in crew lists and to prefill flight numbers. A crew code or a staff number is needed; everything else is optional. |
| Trips: dates, flight numbers, airports, times, aircraft type | This is your logbook. |
| Crew lists: names, crew codes, staff numbers and ranks of colleagues, as shown in your own roster | So you can look up who you have flown with. Crew lists are stored only in your account and are never shown to anyone else or matched across users. |
| Number of scans per day | To protect the reading service from misuse (daily limit). |
The legal basis is the performance of our agreement with you when you use the app (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR). Crew lists of colleagues are processed on the basis of our and your legitimate interest in keeping a complete personal logbook (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); they never leave your account.
Screenshots and PDFs
When you add a trip, the screenshots or PDF you select are sent encrypted to our reading service. It uses Claude, an AI model by Anthropic PBC (USA), to recognise flights and crew and returns the result to your device. CrewJournal does not store the images. Anthropic processes them on our behalf only to provide the result and does not use them to train its models. Please only add documents that belong to you.
Service providers
- Supabase (Supabase Inc.) – database, sign-in and the reading service. Your data is stored in the EU (Ireland).
- Anthropic (Anthropic PBC, USA) – reading screenshots and PDFs, see above.
- Expo (650 Industries Inc., USA) – delivers app updates. When the app checks for an update, Expo receives technical data such as your IP address and app version.
- Apple – Sign in with Apple and distribution through the App Store and TestFlight, under Apple’s own privacy policy.
- GitHub (GitHub Inc., USA) – hosts this website and may log your IP address for security.
All providers act on our instructions under data processing agreements. Transfers to the USA are based on the EU–US Data Privacy Framework or the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.
What we do not do
- No advertising, no tracking, no analytics tools, neither in the app nor on this website.
- No selling or sharing of your data with your airline, colleagues or third parties.
- No cookies on this website. Only your language choice is remembered in your browser.
How long data is kept
Your data is kept as long as you have an account. In the app, Profile › Delete account and all data deletes your account, profile, trips and scan counts immediately and permanently, on all devices. You can also ask us by e-mail to do this for you.
Your rights
You have the right to access, rectify, delete and port your data, to restrict or object to its processing, and to complain to a supervisory authority – in Austria the Datenschutzbehörde (dsb.gv.at). To exercise your rights, write to hello@crewjournal.com.
Age
CrewJournal is intended for working airline crew members and not for children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.

Was die App speichert
| Daten | Wozu |

Schreib uns dafür an hello@crewjournal.com.
Alter
